TOM CARTER is still celebrating his decision to leave corporate life and join his wife Lee Newman full-time at the Stouffville Academy 10 years ago. The Stouffville Academy began as a dance school in a suburb of Toronto in 1993 and has grown to include music and drama. Tom is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter with a lifetime of music study and performance. He began his musical study with the accordion at the age of four, while his mother saved in order to afford a piano. He attended the world-renowned Saint Michael’s Choir School, where he studied voice, piano, organ, guitar, as well as musical theory and harmony. After completing a music performance degree, tom earned a Bachelor of Administrative Studies at York University.
During his corporate days, tom worked with several of the largest Canadian retailers including Hudson’s Bay and Canadian Tire in category management. As a buyer and business development manager, tom has extensive experience in product development and purchasing, overseas sourcing and importing, as well retail marketing and management.
