Fred Knecht has been a dance educator for more than sixty years, serving as a master teacher, school owner and world respected artist. Mr. Knecht has served as a faculty member for the Dance Masters of America and the Dance Teachers club of Boston’s Teacher’s Training Programs. He has served as a master dance teacher for every major dance organization across the U.S. and Canada, including Dance Works in London, Dance Educators of America, International Dance Teachers Association and every DMA Chapter. Mr. Knecht has trained 33 Miss Dance winners. Also, his student won the title of Master Dance of America in 2006. In addition, Mr. Knecht trained the original Annie on Broadway, along with then of the orphans in the show. Further, Mr. Knecht’s former student, Crhistopher Gattelli, now a world-renown choreographer, won a Tony Award for Newsies. H
Knecht was the recipient of ADA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 and the New England Chapter of Dance Masters of America honored Mr. Knecht with outstanding contribution to dance in America. Mr. Knecht’s students have starred on Broadway in the folowing shows: Song and Dance, Les Miserable, Cats, State Fair, Miss Saigon, Jerry’s Girls and Beauty and the Beast. Along with all of these accomplishments his acting career includes “STALAG 17” with John Barrymore Jr.
